"Whenever our pitcher has a lengthy inning, we try to be cognizant of it and avoid having a brief inning immediately after. We want our first batter to take his time as an offense. Of course, they have a clock and must do a lot of other things, but they should still go up there and bat and take a few pitches. While I'm not advocating sacrificing the A and B, we must be aware that our pitcher may have a lengthy inning. DeSchields stated that making an out would be the worst thing that could happen to the team.
