About Eugene Emeralds

The Eugene Emeralds have a long and storied history in the Northwest United States. Founded in 1955, the Emeralds are one of the oldest minor league baseball teams in the country and have been playing at-home games at PK Park since 2009. Over the years, they have developed rivalries with other Minor League teams such as the Salem-Keizer Volcanoes, Portland Pickles, and Hillsboro Hops. The Eugene Emeralds team has won numerous awards throughout its history, including two Northwest League Championships and four division titles. The Emeralds are currently led by head coach Jesus Feliciano who took over in 2020 after Gary Van Tol left for a job in Major League Baseball. Under Feliciano’s leadership, the team has already made strides towards becoming more competitive as they look ahead to 2024 events.

The team is led by some of Minor League Baseball’s top players such as pitcher Zac Lowther who was named Northwest League Pitcher of the Year last season after recording an impressive 2.13 ERA; outfielder Cole Roederer who was named Northwest League Player of the Year last season after batting .310 with 13 home runs; infielder Luis Vazquez who had a .976 fielding percentage last season; catcher Miguel Amaya who had a .972 fielding percentage last season; and outfielder Connor Myers who had a .978 fielding percentage last season. Off the field, the Eugene Emeralds are just as impressive. In recent years, they have consistently maintained an impressive level of academic achievement among their players. In 2020, for example, their team GPA was 3.14 with 27 players earning spots on their respective All-Academic Teams.

This commitment to academic excellence is reflected in their graduation rates which are among some of the highest in Minor League Baseball. The Emeralds also take pride in their community outreach initiatives which include volunteering at local hospitals and schools while also providing food and clothing to those in need throughout Oregon's Willamette Valley region. The Eugene Emeralds are an integral part of Eugene's community culture and provide entertainment for fans from all walks of life throughout Oregon's Willamette Valley region each year when they come out to cheer on their favorite team at PK Park or watch Eugene Emeralds game on television or streaming services like MLB Network or ESPN+. With a rich history of success and an exciting future ahead, there is no doubt that this team will continue to be competitive year after year as they strive to bring another championship back to Eugene soon!
