The Binghamton Rumble Ponies are an American Minor League Baseball team based in Binghamton, New York. Founded in 1992, the Rumble Ponies have been playing baseball for over two decades and have become one of the most successful teams in the Eastern League. The team plays its home games at NYSEG Stadium, located in downtown Binghamton. Over the years, the Rumble Ponies have developed several rivalries with other teams in their division, including the Trenton Thunder, Reading Fightin Phils, and Harrisburg Senators. The Rumble Ponies have won numerous awards throughout their history, including two Eastern League championships and three division titles. The team also boasts an impressive list of former players who went on to play professionally in Major League Baseball (MLB), including David Wright, Jacob deGrom, and Zack Wheeler. Currently leading the program is head coach Luis Rojas who took over in 2020 after Gary DiSarcina left for Boston Red Sox.
Rojas has already made his mark on the program by leading them to a winning record in his first season as head coach and earning Manager of the Year honors from both the Eastern League and Professional Baseball Athletic Trainers Society (PBATS). The Rumble Ponies are led by some of minor league baseball's top players such as shortstop Ronny Mauricio who was named First Team All-Eastern League last season after hitting .277 with 10 home runs; outfielder Tim Tebow who had 16 home runs last year; catcher Ali Sanchez who hit .255 with 11 home runs; pitcher Franklyn Kilome who struck out 104 batters last season; and infielder Andres Gimenez who had a .979 fielding percentage last year. As they look ahead to the 2023 season, Binghamton Rumble Ponies will be looking to continue their success from recent years while also building on their rich history of excellence.
