Team USA Lacrosse is one of the most successful and respected lacrosse programs in the country. Founded in 1998, the team has a long and storied history of success on the field. The team plays its home games at US Lacrosse Headquarters in Sparks, Maryland, where they have become a regular presence in the national lacrosse scene. Over the years, the team has developed rivalries with other top teams in their conference including Johns Hopkins University, Syracuse University, and Duke University. Throughout their history, Team USA Lacrosse has earned numerous awards and accolades for their achievements both on and off the field. In 2020 they won their first-ever National Championship after defeating Towson University in an exciting overtime victory. Currently leading the program is head coach John Danowski who took over in 2019 after serving as head coach of Duke University for 13 years.
Danowski has already made his mark on Team USA Lacrosse by leading them to a winning record during his first season as head coach and earning Coach of the Year honors from both US Lacrosse Magazine and Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association (IWLCA). The Team USA roster is full of talented players such as attackman Michael Sowers who was named First Team All-American last season after scoring 86 points; midfielder Connor Kelly who had 38 goals last year; defender Bryce Wasserman who led all defenders with 28 caused turnovers; goalkeeper Alex Rode who had a .521 save percentage; and midfielder Brad Smith who scored 35 goals last season. As they look ahead to 2023 events, Team USA Lacrosse will be looking to continue their success from recent years while also building on their rich history of excellence.
