About Quebec Remparts

For more than two decades, the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League (QMJHL) has been home to two junior hockey franchises, the Quebec Remparts. Famed for their French moniker - 'Remparts de Québec' - these teams have made a name for themselves through skillful play and passionate fans. The original franchise flourished from 1969 to 1985, while the current one has been in full swing since 1997. Both teams originated in Quebec City, Canada; a place resounding with hockey spirit. At the Videotron Centre, the current team proudly takes its name from Quebec City's historic Ramparts. In 1969, a group of passionate investors pooled their resources to purchase the assets of the junior Quebec Aces and create the renowned Quebec Remparts franchise. Paul Dumont and Gérard Bolduc were two of the recent owners.

The Remparts proudly call the Colisée de Québec home, the same arena where the Aces hold their games. In 1969-70, the Remparts were honored to be finalists for the George Richardson Memorial Trophy and achieved recognition as eastern Canadian champions in 1970-71. Guy Lafleur, who would go on to become a Hockey Hall of Famer, was the centerpiece of this legendary team that won the prestigious Memorial Cup championship in 1971. An outstanding five-time President's Cup victor, the Remparts have been helmed by General Manager Gilles Courteau from 1980 until 1985. After their 1984–85 season, the team went on a three-year hiatus before being brought back to life.

After taking the stage again, "Le Collège Français" sponsored the team then relocated to Longueuil and rebranded as the Longueuil Collège Français. After a successful three seasons, the team relocated to Verdun in 1991 and was rebranded as the Verdun Collège Français. In 1994, the franchise sadly closed its doors. On the 27th of November, 2014, Quebecor acquired the Remparts for a stunning estimated cost between $20 million and $25 million. The illustrious Remparts were selected to host the esteemed 2015 Memorial Cup. After triumphing over the Rimouski Océanic in a thrilling tie-breaker 5-2, they were eventually eliminated by the Kelowna Rockets during the semi-finals with an agonizing 9-3 loss. On September 12, 2015, the team relocated to Centre Vidéotron. Game Venue: Coliseum Sun Life Financial.
