The FedEx St. Jude Invitational is a professional golf tournament hosted by the PGA Tour since 1958 when it was first founded as the Memphis Open. The tournament has moved around several times throughout its history, from Memphis, Mississippi, Arkansas and finally settling in Tennessee at the TPC Southwind in 1989. Throughout its history, the tournament has been known for its commitment to charity and helping those in need and is part of the Professional Golfers Association of America. The event has seen many changes over the years, but it consistently features some of the top players in golf including Jack Nicklaus, Arnold Palmer, and Tiger Woods. The tournament began at Colonial Country Club in Memphis in 1959 and was known as the Memphis Open and later changed to St. Jude Classic when it moved to Ridgeway Country Club in 1960. In 2014, it was renamed the FedEx St. Jude Invitational and remains one of the most prestigious tournaments on tour today featuring some of golf's greatest athletes competing for huge prize purses that have only increased over time thanks to generous donations from FedEx and others sponsors.
