About New Jersey Generals

The New Jersey Generals have been making waves in the professional American football scene since their inception in 1983. Founded as a part of the United States Football League, the Generals quickly became one of the most successful teams in the league, winning three division titles and making two championship game appearances. The NJ Generals team was also known for its star-studded roster, featuring players such as Herschel Walker and Doug Flutie. After the USFL New Jersey Generals folded in 1986, the team moved to the Arena Football League where they played until 1993 when they disbanded due to financial difficulties. In 2023, however, fans of the Generals will get to experience their beloved team once again. After a 28-year hiatus, the New Jersey Generals are set to return to action as part of a new professional football league called The Alliance of American Football (AAF).

Led by head coach Kevin Gilbride and general manager Mike Tannenbaum, this new iteration of the team is sure to bring back memories of past successes while also introducing new faces and exciting storylines. The Generals will be playing their home games at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, New Jersey. This state-of-the-art facility has hosted some of football's biggest events over its history including Super Bowl XLVIII and WrestleMania 35. With an impressive capacity of 82,500 seats, it is sure to provide an electrifying atmosphere for all AAF games held there. The team's roster consists of some top talent from around college football programs such as quarterback Matt Simms who played at Tennessee before transferring to Louisville; running back Kenneth Farrow who had 1,259 rushing yards last season with San Diego State; wide receiver Deonte Harris who had 882 receiving yards last season with Assumption College.

The team also includes defensive tackle Jordan Thompson who was named First Team All-Big Ten last season with Ohio State; linebacker Antonio Longino who was named Second Team All-Pac 12 last season with Arizona State; and cornerback D'Joun Smith who had four interceptions last season with Florida Atlantic University. As they look ahead to their first season back on the field after nearly three decades away from competitive play, excitement is high among fans across New Jersey and beyond for what this new version of The Generals can accomplish in 2023. With a talented roster full of experienced veterans and promising newcomers alike, there is no doubt that this team will be competitive once again this year as they strive for success on and off the field while honoring their storied history of excellence.
