About Muay Thai World Cup

The Muay Thai World Cup is an international competition that brings together the world’s best fighters in the sport of Muay Thai. Founded in 1995, the tournament has been held every two years since and has become one of the most prestigious events in martial arts. The tournament is held at various locations around the world, including Thailand, Japan, China, and the United States. Over the years, it has grown to include more than 40 countries and hundreds of competitors from all over the globe. The Muay Thai World Cup is a celebration of martial arts culture and its history. Since its inception, it has been a platform for some of Muay Thai’s top fighters to showcase their skills and compete against each other on a global scale. The tournament features several divisions ranging from junior to professional levels with both male and female competitors vying for gold medals in each division. The tournament also features several awards given out at the end of each event such as the Best Fighter Award, Best Technique Award, Best Knockout Award, Most Spectacular Fight Award, and more. In addition to these awards, there are also special awards given out by sponsors such as the Best Sponsor Award and Most Supportive Sponsor Award. In 2023, the Muay Thai World Cup will be hosted by Thailand for its 25th-anniversary edition. This year’s event will feature some of the sport’s top fighters including current champions Yodsanklai Fairtex from Thailand; Buakaw Banchamek from Thailand; Saenchai PKSaenchaimuaythaigym from Thailand; Superbon Banchamek from Thailand; Petchboonchu FA Group from Thailand; Kompichit Sitsongpeenong Gym from Thailand; Singdam Kiatmuu9 Gym from Thailand; among others. Heading into this year’s event is head coach Somluck Kamsing who was appointed by the Sports Authority of Thailand (SAT) to lead Team Thailand in 2023. With his extensive knowledge and experience in Muay Thai training as well as his previous success as an Olympic gold medalist in the 1996 Atlanta Olympics Games for boxing, he is expected to take Team Thailand to new heights this year. The Muay Thai World Cup is not only about showcasing some of the best fighters in martial arts but also about promoting sportsmanship amongst competitors while celebrating cultural heritage through traditional ceremonies such as Wai Kru Ram Muay (a ritual dance performed before each fight).
