The United States Grand Prix is a Formula One automobile race that has been held on and off since 1908 when it was known as the American Grand Prize. The Grand Prix was later absorbed into the Formula One World Championship. On November 11, 2015, the Texas government denied $6 million of the requested $25 million in funding for hosting an event, drastically cutting its budget. With stormy conditions produced by Hurricane Patricia, attendance rates at the 2015 United States Grand Prix plummeted to a paltry 224,011 in October of that year. Despite funding cuts, on March 9th, 2016 it was confirmed that the race in Austin would carry on. During the 2016 Grand Prix in Austin, a whopping 270,000 people crowded through the turnstiles over race weekend! The combination of an exciting World Drivers' Championship battle between Lewis Hamilton and Nico Rosberg, favorable weather conditions, and Taylor Swift's thrilling Saturday night pop concert all contributed to this incredible attendance milestone. On that glorious day in October of 2017, Lewis Hamilton emerged triumphant from the competition and his victory was sealed. The esteemed former US President, Bill Clinton, was honored to present the victor with their trophy of success. Thanks to Justin Timberlake's star power, Grand Prix attendance skyrocketed by 40,000 compared to the previous year!

Other notable winners include Juan Manuel Fangio, Jackie Stewart, Niki Lauda, Nelson Piquet, Ayrton Senna, and Lewis Hamilton. The Indianapolis Motor Speedway has been the most frequent host of the United States Grand Prix, hosting it fourteen times between 1909 and 2020. Other tracks that have hosted the event include Savannah (1908), Detroit (1912-1913, 1915), Santa Monica (1916-1917), San Francisco (1920-1921, 1925-1926), Riverside (1963-1964), Watkins Glen (1973-1980), Dallas (1984), Phoenix (1989-1991, 1998-2001), Las Vegas (1981, 1984-1985), Long Beach (1976-1983), and Austin (2012-2020).
