Steve Martinson was honored as the General Manager of the Year, and Alex Breton (defenseman) and Tyler Sheehy (forward) both earned spots on the prestigious All-ECHL First Team. The Americans were among the fourteen ECHL teams that chose to play during the disrupted 2020–21 season, which was delayed due to the pandemic. Despite snagging the top seed in the Western Conference, their dreams of 2021 Kelly Cup glory were dashed when they suffered a heartbreaking defeat at the hands of the Fort Wayne Komets in the conference finals.
