Damn, Yankees was a rock supergroup formed in Syracuse, New York in 1989. The band was made up of Jack Blades (Night Ranger), Ted Nugent (The Amboy Dukes), and Tommy Shaw (Styx). The trio released their self-titled debut album in 1990, which went on to become a major success. The album spawned the hit singles "High Enough" and "Coming of Age," both of which reached the top five on the Billboard Hot 100 chart. In addition to these two singles, Damn Yankees also had several other hits such as "Don't Tread On Me," "Where You Goin' Now," and "Mister Please." The band's second album, Don't Tread, was released in 1992, and continued their success with hits like "Silent Night" and "Runaway." This album was certified double platinum by the RIAA for sales exceeding two million copies sold. Following their successful second album, Damn Yankees went on tour to promote it. They played shows across North America from 1993 to 1994 before taking an extended break. In 1997, Damn Yankees reunited for a third studio album titled Seven.
The lead single from this record was the power ballad "Come Again," which peaked at number twenty-two on the Billboard Hot 100 chart. In addition to this single, Seven also featured tracks such as "Goodbye To Romance" and "Uprising." Although this album didn't achieve the same level of success as its predecessor, it still managed to reach gold status in Canada. After another hiatus, Damn Yankees reunited once again in 2011 for a 20th-anniversary tour that included stops all over North America. During this time they also released a live compilation titled Live! In Japan 1989-1990 that featured recordings from their original tour back in 1990. Since then they have toured sporadically over the years with occasional appearances at festivals such as Rocklahoma and M3 Rock Festival. 2023 marks another exciting year for Damn Yankees fans as they embark on yet another reunion tour!
