About Big 12 Baseball Tournament

The Big 12 Baseball Tournament is an annual event that takes place in the spring and determines the conference champion for the Big 12 Conference. The tournament has been held since 1997 and features teams from Oklahoma, Kansas, Texas, Iowa State, West Virginia, TCU, Baylor, and Oklahoma State. The tournament is played in a double-elimination format with the top four teams advancing to a single-game championship. The Big 12 Baseball Tournament has seen some of the most exciting games in college baseball history. In 2018, Texas Tech advanced to the Championship Game after defeating Oklahoma State in extra innings. The Red Raiders then went on to win their first-ever Big 12 Baseball Championship by defeating West Virginia 4-2 in a thrilling game that featured seven lead changes. The tournament features some of the best rivalries in college sports as well. Every year, Texas and Oklahoma battle it out for bragging rights between two of college baseball's most storied programs. These two teams have met each other twice in the finals of this tournament with Texas coming out on top both times. The Big 12 Baseball Tournament is also home to some of college baseball's most talented players and coaches.

Current head coach Tim Tadlock has led the Red Raiders to five straight NCAA Tournaments including three trips to Omaha for their first-ever College World Series appearance in 2014. He has also been named Big 12 Coach of the Year three times during his tenure at Texas Tech which includes back-to-back titles in 2017 and 2018. Texas Tech's roster is filled with All-Americans such as Josh Jung who was named Big 12 Player of the Year last season after leading all conference players with a .392 batting average and 14 home runs while driving in 52 runs as well. Other standouts include Cameron Warren who hit .354 last season while driving in 45 runs, Dylan Dusek who posted a 2.40 ERA over 15 starts last season, and Steven Gingery who had a 1.58 ERA over 16 starts last season en route to being named Big 12 Pitcher of the Year for 2018. In 2023, the Big 12 Baseball Tournament will be hosted by TCU at Lupton Stadium located just outside Fort Worth, TX. This will mark only the second time that TCU has hosted this event since joining the conference back in 2012 as they previously did so back in 2015 when they won their first-ever tournament title by defeating Oklahoma 9-3 in 11 innings! Fans can look forward to seeing some great matchups featuring all eight teams competing this year as they battle it out for one final championship before heading into postseason play!
