Le Tigre is an American electroclash band formed in 1998 by Kathleen Hanna, Johanna Fateman, and JD Samson. The trio has been credited with helping to create the genre of electroclash, a mix of punk rock and electronica. Their music combines elements of punk, hip-hop, funk, and electronic dance music, often featuring feminist lyrics and themes. Le Tigre’s debut album was released in 1999 and featured their hit single “Deceptacon” which reached number one on the Billboard Dance/Club Play chart. The album also featured other singles such as “Hot Topic” and “My My Metrocard”. Le Tigre followed up their debut album with a second release titled Feminist Sweepstakes in 2001. This album featured the popular single “Keep On Livin'” which peaked at number two on the Billboard Dance/Club Play chart. The band also released a third album called This Island in 2004 which included the singles “New Kicks” and “TKO”. In 2006 Le Tigre went on hiatus but reunited for a reunion tour in 2014 to celebrate their 15th anniversary as a band. In 2017, Le Tigre released their fourth studio album I'm With Her which received critical acclaim from fans and critics alike. The album spawned several singles such as "I'm With Her" featuring guest vocals from Peaches, "Fake French", "Can't Control Myself", "Don't Stop Moving" featuring guest vocals from Beth Ditto, and "Love U More" featuring guest vocals from Anohni. The group has also won numerous awards including Best Electronic/Dance Album at the 2004 Grammy Awards for This Island as well as Best Alternative Music Video at the 2003 MTV Europe Music Awards for their single "Deceptacon".
