Nicole Atkins is an American singer-songwriter. Her influences include 1950s crooner music, garage rock, and classic country. Atkins has been described as a "gorgeous blonde with a voice that could charm the birds out of the trees". Atkins was born in Neptune Township, New Jersey, and grew up in Shark River Hills. She attended St. Rose High School. After graduation, she studied at Syracuse University's renowned School of Visual and Performing Arts.
Atkins began her music career in 2000, performing at local bars and clubs in Asbury Park, New Jersey. She released her debut album, Neptune City, in 2007.
