The Mission UK, one of the most celebrated bands in alternative rock, was formed in 1986. Hailing from Leeds, England, they have released nine studio albums and numerous singles over the course of their career. The band is comprised of singer-songwriter Wayne Hussey, bassist Craig Adams and drummer Mick Brown. Their first album, God's Own Medicine, was released in 1986 and spawned three hit singles: "Wasteland," "Stay with Me" and "Butterfly on a Wheel." It was later certified gold in the United Kingdom. Their second album Children (1988) was also successful, reaching number 7 in the UK Albums Chart. The single "Tower of Strength" reached number 8 on the UK Singles Chart. The Mission UK's third album Carved in Sand (1990) was their most successful yet; it reached number 4 on the UK Albums Chart and spawned three top 40 hits: "Deliverance," "Beyond the Pale" and "Hands Across the Ocean."
The band has won several awards over the years including Best British Band at Kerrang! Awards (1989), Best Independent Band at NME Awards (1991), and Best Alternative Act at MTV Europe Music Awards (1995). The Mission UK has toured extensively throughout Europe, North America, and Australia since its formation. They have headlined some of Europe’s biggest festivals such as the Reading & Leeds Festival, Download Festival, and Glastonbury Festival. After a five-year hiatus from recording new music, The Mission UK returned with their ninth studio album Another Fall From Grace which was released in 2016 to critical acclaim. It featured two singles: “Met-Amor-Phosis” and “Blood On The Road” both of which charted highly on Billboard charts.
