The Grass Roots band was formed in 1965 by guitarist and songwriter Rob Grill and keyboardist Warren Entner. The group had a string of hits throughout the late 1960s and early 1970s, including "Let's Live for Today", "Midnight Confessions", "Temptation Eyes" and "Sooner or Later". They have sold over 20 million records worldwide. The Grass Roots began their career in 1965 when they signed a recording contract with Dunhill Records. Their first single, “Where Were You When I Needed You”, was released that same year. It became a top 40 hit on the Billboard Hot 100 chart, peaking at number 17. This success was followed up with their second single, “Things I Should Have Said”, which reached number 12 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart. Their debut album, Where Were You When I Needed You, was released in 1966 and featured several songs that would become staples of their live shows for years to come. In 1967, The Grass Roots released their second album Let’s Live For Today which included two singles that made it onto the Billboard Hot 100: “Let’s Live for Today” (peaking at number 8) and “Wishin' She Was Mine” (peaking at number 23). This album also featured the classic song “Midnight Confessions” which went on to become one of their most popular songs ever. Throughout the next few years, The Grass Roots continued to release albums such as Move Along (1968), Feelings (1969), More Golden Graffiti (1970), and Alotta Mileage (1971). These albums spawned several more hit singles such as “Temptation Eyes” (#15) and “Sooner or Later” (#9). In 1973 The Grass Roots were inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame for their contribution to music history. The Grass Roots have been performing since 1965 and continue to tour today.
