The group name is inspired by the joke of the same name told by Comedians since Vaudeville. Consequently, the song titles on their debut namesake album – a progressive rock compilation – are rife with double-entendres denoting lewd behavior. The group's self-titled debut album was recorded in 2010 and released on August 30, 2011. The album features 11 tracks composed by each band member individually, with the exception of "Bad Asteroid" which was co-written by Beller and Govan. Despite having no previous material to support them, The Aristocrats were able to tour extensively in support of the album, including a European tour with Dream Theater keyboardist Jordan Rudess. On May 28, 2013, The Aristocrats released their sophomore album Culture Clash. The album was once again written entirely by the band members individually, with the exception of "Oh Yeah?", which was co-written by Beller and Minnemann. Culture Clash was once again met with critical acclaim, and the band embarked on another world tour in support of the album. In 2015, The Aristocrats released their third album "Tres Caballeros". The album features a more diverse range of musical styles than the previous two albums, including elements of jazz, flamenco, and country music.
