Starset is an American rock band created by Dustin Bates in 2013, hailing from Columbus, Ohio. The group has released two albums, Transmissions in 2014 and Vessels in 2017. The band's musical style has been described as "cinematic rock" or "rock opera".
The band's debut album, Transmissions, was met with mixed reviews but was a commercial success, selling over 27,000 copies in its first week and debuting at number eight on the Billboard 200. The album's second single, "My Demons", peaked at number one on the US Mainstream Rock chart and was certified platinum by the RIAA in August 2015.
The band's second album, Vessels, was released on January 20, 2017. It debuted at number five on the Billboard 200 and sold over 31,000 copies in its first week. The album's lead single, "Monster", peaked at number two on the US Mainstream Rock chart.
Starset revealed the release date for their third album, which is set for September 13, 2019, as well as American fall tour dates on May 13. On July 2, 2019, tour dates for Europe and the UK in the spring of 2020 were released. Divisions, the album's title, was revealed in August 2019 along with the release of its lead track, "Manifest." The CD was made available on September 13, 2019. The band has two billion streams globally by the year 2020.
To commemorate the two-year anniversary of the video game Arknights, Starset released a cover of Led Zeppelin's "Kashmir" exclusively for Amazon Music in April 2021, along with a brand-new song called "Infected." The band announced in May 2021 that they will play on LouderThanLife (September 2021) and Rockville for their first demonstration since the epidemic (November 2021).
