Polyphia is an instrumental progressive rock band that has been making waves in the music industry since 2010. The band was formed by friends and guitarists Tim Henson and Scott LePage in Plano, Texas. They soon added bassist Clay Gober and drummer Clay Aeschlimann to complete the lineup. Since then, Polyphia has released four studio albums: Inspire (2014), Renaissance (2016), The Most Hated (2018), and New Levels New Devils (2019). The band's sound is characterized by a combination of melodic passages with technical virtuosity, often featuring complex rhythms and time signatures. Their unique approach to composition has earned them critical acclaim from fans, critics, and musicians alike. Additionally, Polyphia live performances are renowned for their energy and precision. It featured a mix of original compositions as well as covers of classic songs such as "Smells Like Teen Spirit" by Nirvana and "Cliffs of Dover" by Eric Johnson. The record received praise from critics for its ambitious arrangements and intricate guitar parts. Polyphia followed up Inspire with Renaissance in 2016 which saw them further refine their sound with complex arrangements and soaring melodies. The album charted at number five on Billboard's Heatseekers chart upon release. In 2018, Polyphia released their third album The Most Hated which featured guest appearances from artists such as Jason Richardson (Chelsea Grin) and Nick Johnston (Planet X). This record pushed the boundaries of progressive rock even further with its heavy riffs, melodic passages, and intense solos. It also marked the band's highest charting release yet reaching number two on Billboard's Heatseekers chart! Their most recent album New Levels New Devils was released in 2019 via Equal Vision Records to critical acclaim from fans worldwide. This record saw the band continue to push its musical boundaries with its mix of technical proficiency combined with melodic passages that showcased the group’s growth over time.
