About Perpetual Groove

Perpetual Groove is an American rock band that originated in 1997 in Savannah, Georgia. The band's music combines elements of rock, jam, jazz and funk. They are known for their live performances, which often include extended improvisational segments. Since its founding, the band has released six studio albums, two live albums and one EP. The band has toured extensively throughout the United States, as well as Europe and Japan. They have played music festivals such as Bonnaroo, Lollapalooza, Wakarusa and Jam Cruise. The band's name was inspired by a dream vocalist/guitarist Brock Butler had in which he met a stranger named "Perpetual Groove". The stranger handed Butler a business card that read "Perpetual Groove: Fine Funk and Jam Bands Since 1997". On January 13, 2013, the band announced on pgroove.com that they will be taking a break after the tour. Under the new name Ghost Owl, Albert, Matt, and Adam will carry on performing and making music. Brock expressed regret to the crowd and said he needed time away to break bad habits and form new, positive ones. A reunion is possible at some point, according to Brock, but he made no promises or time estimates. On April 5, 2013, the band played its final concert in front of a sold-out crowd at the Georgia Theatre in Athens, Georgia. Every Memorial Day weekend, the band held their own gathering known as "Amberland." It started as a gathering for friends and family on Mark Day's property in Jefferson, Georgia, but it outgrew its roots in Jackson County and moved every year. Amberland was hosted at Cherokee Farms, just outside of LaFayette in northwest Georgia, from 2007 through 2012. Over the course of the weekend, the band performed lengthy shows, and on Sunday mornings during the weekend, Brock Butler regularly performed an acoustic set known as BrockFest. The first festival to include opening artists was Amberland X (May 2011), which featured P-regular Groove's tour openers Moon Taxi, Zoogma, Mantras, Under The Porch, Former Champions, and Noise[Org]. The band's lineup has included several different musicians over the years. The current members are Butler, bassist Adam Perry, keyboardist Matthew McDonald, drummer Albert Suttle and guitarist Garrett Morris. Perpetual Groove tickets are on sale now at Yadara!
