Olivia Jean Markel White is an American singer, songwriter, and multi-instrumentalist. She is known as the lead singer and guitarist of the all-female "garage goth" rock band the Olivia Jean Black Belles. Olivia was born in Nashville, Tennessee, and grew up playing music from a young age. She has been playing guitar since she was 13 years old and has been writing her songs since she was 15. She released her first solo album, Bathtub Love Killings, in 2014 to critical acclaim. The album featured songs such as “Candy” and “I Wanna Be Your Man” which showcased her unique blend of garage rock and folk influences. Since then, Olivia Jean has released two more albums: Night Owl in 2018 and her most recent effort, Bless My Heart in 2020. Both albums have been praised for their innovative sound that blends elements of indie rock with classic garage punk. Her songs have been featured on television shows such as “Grey’s Anatomy” and “Glee” as well as films like “The Fault In Our Stars” and “The Perks Of Being A Wallflower”.
Olivia Jean has also collaborated with artists such as Olivia Jean Markel and Jack White, who produced her debut solo album, as well as John Cale of The Velvet Underground fame. In 2021 Olivia Jean announced an extensive tour of Europe and North America starting in April 2022 with dates already being planned out through 2023! This tour will feature many of her most popular songs from both her solo work as well as from the Black Belles. It will also include a variety of special guest appearances from other artists on the bill including Jack White himself!
