Los Straitjackets is an American instrumental rock band that was formed in Nashville, Tennessee, United States in 1988. The band consists of four members: Danny Amis, Eddie Angel, Pete Curry, and Greg Townson. Their music is a mix of classic rockabilly, surf rock, and garage punk, and they are known for their vintage instruments and matching wrestling masks. Los Straitjackets have released 11 studio albums since their formation in 1988. Their self-titled debut album was released in 1995 and featured the hit single “Jet Set” which made it to number 8 on the US Alternative Songs Chart. Their second album, The Utterly Fantastic and Unbelievable Sound of Los Straitjackets (1999), was critically acclaimed and featured the singles “El Toro” and “Malagueña Salerosa” which both charted in the top 30 on the US Alternative Songs Chart. In 2003 Los Straitjackets released their third album Supersonic Guitars in 3-D which featured the singles “Tequila” and “Surfin’ Bird”. This album was also critically acclaimed by music critics who praised its unique blend of rockabilly, surf rock, garage punk, and other genres. In 2005 Los Straitjackets released their fourth album Rock en Español Vol 1 which was a tribute to traditional Latin American music with covers of classic Los Straitjackets songs such as “La Bamba” by Ritchie Valens and “El Rey” by Vicente Fernandez. This album won them a Latin Grammy Award for Best Rock Album in 2006. The band has gone on to release several more albums over the years including Jet Set (2009), What's So Funny About Peace Love And Los Straitjackets (2014), and Channel Surfing (2017). They have also toured extensively throughout North America as well as Europe where they have performed at some of the biggest festivals including the Glastonbury Festival in England, Summer Sonic Festival in Japan, Vive Latino Festival in Mexico City, Primavera Sound Festival in Spain, and many more.
