About Little Feat

Little Feat is an American rock band formed by Lowell George, Roy Estrada, and keyboardist Bill Payne in 1969 in Los Angeles. George's demise in 1979 marked the end of the band's first incarnation. The band reformed in 1988 with drummer Richie Hayward and keyboardist Craig Fuller joining vocalists/guitarists Sam Clayton and Paul Barrere, to record Let It Roll; Hayward left Little Feat later that year due to health problems. In 2010, the band once again reformed with former members Payne, Clayton, and Barrere joined by new drummer Gabe Ford and bassist Kenny Gradney. The Little Feat band's current lineup also includes guitarists Fred Tackett and Shaun Murphy.

Little Feat's best-known songs include "Willin'", "Dixie Chicken" and "Sailin' Shoes", among others. They have been nominated for five Grammy Awards, winning once in 1995 for their album Dixie Chicken. Rolling Stone magazine has called them "The best American band of the 1970s." George's death in 1979 ended Little Feat's first run; several years later, the surviving members reformed and have continued to tour and record ever since. The band has maintained a large and loyal cult following throughout its career. Little Feat was inducted into the Louisiana Music Hall of Fame in 2009.

Little Feat has always been dedicated to its audience, never failing to deliver an exceptional experience. This commitment has remained steadfast for the past 54 years since the band's inception in 1969, irrespective of the lineup. A testament to their unwavering passion, the show held at Kenan Auditorium on the UNC-Wilmington campus in April 2023 was no exception. Feat delivered a captivating two-hour performance to an almost full house at the 1,000-seat theater, marking the grand finale of their three-week "Boogie Your Spring Away" tour at Charleston Music Hall in South Carolina. After a two-month hiatus, the band will resume their tour in late June 2023, performing 33 shows until October 2023. During this time, they will treat fans to complete album renditions of their classics "Sailin' Shoes" (1972) and "Dixie Chicken" (1973). Following this, they will embark on the exciting Big Easy Cruise in November 2023.
