  • Kings Kaleidoscope is an American alternative rock band based in Seattle, led by producer, singer and songwriter Chad Gardner. The group is composed of a number of rotating musicians. The band's first album, Becoming Who We Are, was released on January 28, 2014 by Kings Kaleidoscope LLC. Kings Kaleidoscope, a Seattle, Washington-based band, was founded in 2010 at a Mars Hill Church plant on the University of Washington campus, where Gardner served as the worship leader. The band's name is derived from a passage in the book of Revelation, which describes Jesus Christ as "the King of kings and Lord of lords." The band self-released their first EP, Chrysalis, on May 4, 2011. The EP was well received by critics, with AllMusic giving it 4 out of 5 stars and saying that it "hints at the group's potential" while also noting that the band was "still in the process of finding its sound." The band followed up Chrysalis with their first full-length album, Becoming Who We Are, on January 28, 2014. The album was produced by Gardner and mixed by Aaron Sprinkle. Upon its release, Becoming Who We Are was met with generally positive reviews from music critics. AllMusic gave the album 3 out of 5 stars, saying that it was "a strong and promising debut" while also noting that the band was "still growing into its sound." The album's lead single, "All Things New," was met with positive reviews and was called "anthemic" by AllMusic. The second single, "Tides," was also met with positive reviews and was praised for its "uplifting" message. Kings Kaleidoscope's third album, Beyond Control, was released on September 18, 2016. The album was once again produced by Gardner and mixed by Sprinkle. Beyond Control was met with positive reviews from music critics. AllMusic gave the album 4 out of 5 stars, saying that it was "an excellent sophomore effort" and that the band had "solidified its sound." The album's lead single, "Paradigm," was met with positive reviews and was praised for its "catchy" chorus. The second single, "Tides," was also met with positive reviews and was praised for its "uplifting" message. Kings Kaleidoscope's fourth album, Zeal, was released on October 5, 2018. The album was produced by Gardner and mixed by Sprinkle. Upon its release, Zeal was met with positive reviews from music critics. AllMusic gave the album 4 out of 5 stars, saying that it was "an excellent sophomore effort" and that the band had "solidified its sound."
