Justin Hayward is an English singer, songwriter, and guitarist who has been a member of the rock band The Moody Blues since 1966. He wrote many of the group's most popular songs, including "Nights in White Satin", "Tuesday Afternoon", and "Question". He was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2018 as a part of the Moody Blues. Hayward began his musical career at age 12 when he joined a local band called The Corvettes. In 1965, he joined Denny Laine and Clint Warwick to form The Moody Blues. With Hayward as lead vocalist, they released their first album, The Magnificent Moodies, in 1965. It included their breakthrough hit single "Go Now". They quickly followed up with Days of Future Passed in 1967, featuring Hayward's classic songs "Nights In White Satin" and "Tuesday Afternoon". This album established them as one of the most successful bands of the era and earned them a Grammy Award nomination for Best New Artist. The Moody Blues continued to have success throughout the 1970s with albums such as Every Good Boy Deserves Favour (1971), Seventh Sojourn (1972), and Octave (1978).
Hayward also released two solo albums: Songwriter (1977) and Night Flight (1980). In 1981, Justin rejoined The Moody Blues for their Long Distance Voyager album which featured hits such as "Gemini Dream" and "The Voice". This album was certified triple platinum in both the United States and the United Kingdom. In 1991, Hayward released his third solo album Classic Blue which included covers of some of his favorite songs from other artists such as Bob Dylan's “Lay Lady Lay” and Elvis Presley’s “Can't Help Falling In Love”. He has since released four more solo albums: Moving Mountains (1995), Live at San Juan Capistrano (1997), Spirits Of The Western Sky (2013), and All The Way (2016). During this period he also returned to touring with The Moody Blues for several tours around the world. Justin announced that he will be embarking on an extensive tour across North America in 2023! This tour will feature many classic hits from all eras of his career including fan favorites like “Nights In White Satin”, “Tuesday Afternoon”, and “Question”.
