Joe Hertler & The Rainbow Seekers is an American rock band from Michigan, formed and led by Joe Hertler, a musician, songwriter, and producer. He mostly writes his songs on acoustic guitar. The band is currently signed to Roll Call Records. They have released five albums: Paper Airplanes (2012), Swimming Through Stars (2014), Terraform (2016), This Is Joe Hertler & The Rainbow Seekers (2017), and Modern Folklore (2019).
Joe Hertler & The Rainbow Seekers got their start in early 2010 when Joe Hertler (lead vocals, guitar) and his childhood friend Ryan Hogerheide (bass) decided to start a band. They were soon joined by Andrew Brown (drums), Jordan Schug (keyboard), and Polly Parson (saxophone). The band quickly began playing shows around their hometown of Lansing, Michigan.
In 2012, the band released its debut album, Paper Airplanes. The album was self-released and was funded by a successful Kickstarter campaign.
The band's second album, Swimming Through Stars, was released in 2014. The album was produced by Chris Koltay (The National, Interpol, Lou Reed) and was mixed by Alan Moulder (Nine Inch Nails, Smashing Pumpkins, Foals).
The band's third album, Terraform, was released in 2016. The album was produced by Chris Koltay and mixed by Andrew Scheps (Red Hot Chili Peppers, Lana Del Rey, Adele).
The band's fourth album, This Is Joe Hertler & The Rainbow Seekers, was released in 2017. The album was produced by Chris Koltay and mixed by Alan Moulder.
The band's fifth album, Modern Folklore, was released in 2019. The album was produced by Joe Hertler and mixed by Andrew Scheps.
