Hoodoo Gurus is an Australian rock band that was formed in 1981. The Hoodoo Gurus band consists of Dave Faulkner, Brad Shepherd, Mark Kingsmill, and Clyde Bramley. They are renowned for their unique blend of punk, pop, and garage rock. The group released their debut album Stoneage Romeos in 1984 which was a huge success. It peaked at number four on the Australian charts and went double platinum in Australia. The album included hit singles such as "I Want You Back" and "Leilani". The band's next two albums were also successful; Mars Needs Guitars! (1985) and Hoodoo Gurus Blow Your Cool! (1987). These albums featured some of their most popular songs including "Bittersweet", "My Girl", and "Like Wow-Wipeout".
The band's fourth album Magnum Cum Louder (1989) saw them break into the US market with the single "Come Anytime" reaching number one on Billboard's Modern Rock Tracks chart. Hoodoo Gurus then released their fifth album Kinky (1991) which was certified gold in Australia. This album included hit singles such as "Miss Freelove '69", "1000 Miles Away" and "What's My Scene?". Hoodoo Gurus have been nominated for numerous awards throughout their career including ARIA Awards for Best Group, Album of the Year, Best Cover Artwork, Best Video, Single of the Year, and Best Independent Release. In 2007, they were inducted into the ARIA Hall Of Fame. Hudu Gurus have recently announced a 2023 tour across Australia to celebrate 40 years since the release of Stoneage Romeos!
