Gov't Mule is an American rock band formed in 1994 by two former members of The Allman Brothers Band, Warren Haynes, and Allen Woody. The duo was soon joined by drummer Matt Abts, and the trio became a quartet when Danny Louis joined as keyboardist and percussionist in 1999. Since then, the band has released 12 studio albums and toured constantly around the world. Govt Mule's first album, “Gov't Mule” was released in 1995 with four original songs written by Haynes and Woody. They followed this up with over a dozen other albums including classics such as Dose (1998), Life Before Insanity (2000), Deja Voodoo (2004), High & Mighty (2006), and By A Thread (2009). These albums have seen wide critical acclaim for their blend of blues, classic rock, and southern-twang balladry. Each album features powerful individual tracks such as "Soulshine" from Dose; "Stratus" from Life Before Insanity; "Bad Little Doggie" from Deja Voodoo; "Million Miles From Yesterday" from High & Mighty; and "Railroad Boy" from By A Thread.
The Gov t Mule band has also released several live Govt Mule albums including Live... With a Little Help From Our Friends (1999) which featured collaborations with artists such as Elvis Costello, Dave Matthews, Toots Hibbert, and Donna Jean Godchaux-MacKay; The Deep End Volume 1 & 2 (2001); Thorogood Brothers to The Bridge (2008); Dub Side of the Mule(2009); Dark Side Of The Mule(2008) and Sco-Mule(2010). On stage Gov't Mule maintains their intense energy with extended improvisations on classic riffs during Gov t Mule concerts which have been affectionately called ‘Mule shows’. Government Mule has played festivals across Europe including Glastonbury Festival in 2001, Montreux Jazz Festival in 2004, and Fuji Rock Festival in 2005 among others. Additionally, they've performed at some of America's most renowned music venues such as Red Rocks Amphitheater in Colorado or Radio City Music Hall in New York City. To honor their legacy, Gov't Mule was inducted into the Georgia Music Hall of Fame alongside acts like Lynyrd Skynyrd İn 2017 while they also won Best Jam Band at the Classic Rock Roll Of Honour Awards that same year.
