Godsmack is an American rock band from Lawrence, Massachusetts, formed in 1995. The band's name comes from the title of a song by Alice In Chains. Godsmack has released seven studio albums, one EP (The Other Side), four DVDs, one compilation album (Good Times, Bad Times...Ten Years Of Godsmack), and one live album (Live & Inspired). Their debut album, All Wound Up was released in 1997. It was followed by their self-titled second album in 1998 and Faceless in 2003. The band achieved success with their third album Awake which contained the hit single "I Stand Alone" and went on to become certified as triple platinum. In 2006, the band released IV which saw them reach new heights of success; it debuted at number one on the Billboard 200 chart and was certified as double platinum. In 2010, they released The Oracle which reached number one on both the US Rock Albums Chart and US Hard Rock Albums Chart and was certified as gold. They then released 1000hp in 2014 which featured singles such as "Something Different" and "Generation Day". Most recently, Godsmack released When Legends Rise in 2018 which included singles such as "Bulletproof" and "Unforgettable".
Godsmack has been honored with numerous awards including two Grammy nominations for Best Metal Performance ("Voodoo" and "Straight Out Of Line"), four Billboard Music Awards for Top Rock Artist of The Year (2002), and Top Modern Rock Artist of The Year (2003 - 2005), five Boston Music Awards for Artist of The Year (2001 - 2004), two Revolver Golden Gods Awards for Best International Band (2014), three Kerrang! Awards for Best International Band (2014 - 2016).
