Giant Rooks is an indie rock band from Hamm, Germany that has made a name for itself in the music industry. Founded in 2014, this four-piece Giant Rooks band consists of Finn Schwieters (vocals and guitar), Frederik Rabe (guitar and vocals), Johannes Wirth (bass), and Philipp Klemz (drums). Since their formation, Giant Rooks have released two EPs and one full-length album titled Rookery. Their debut album was released on 28 August 2020 to critical acclaim. The band's first EP, Wild Stare was released in 2017 and featured five tracks including "Wild Stare", "New Estate" and "Heat Up". This EP earned them a nomination for the Preis für Popkultur award. In 2018, they followed up with their second EP titled Into The Distance which included singles such as "In The City Lights" and "The Sun And Moon". This EP also received positive reviews from critics.
This 2024, Giant Rooks won the 1Live Krone Award for Best Newcomer as well as the Preis für Popkultur award. They have also been nominated for several other awards including MTV Europe Music Awards and Echo Music Prize. Their debut album Rookery was released in 2020 to critical acclaim. It includes singles like “100mg” which reached number one on German radio charts as well as “Waterfalls” which charted at number two on the German airplay chart. Other popular songs from the album include “Maelstrom”, “Watershed” and “Somersault” all of which have become fan favorites worldwide.
