Formed in late 1968, Fuse was an American rock band based in Rockford, Illinois. The idea to merge two local bands - The Grim Reapers and Toast and Jam - came from Rick Nielsen. Ken Adamany then took on the role of manager for the new line-up which included Rick Nielsen (keyboards/guitar), Joe Sundberg (vocals), Tom Petersson (bass guitar), Craig Myers (lead guitar) and Chip Greenman(drums/percussion). The band's name came from a suggestion by Sundberg. The group began playing clubs in the Midwest while working on material for their self-titled debut album, which was released in early 1970. The album failed to gain much attention, but the band continued to play shows and work on new material. Their second album, Direction, was released in 1971 and featured a more Hard Rock sound. The album's first single, "So Much for Lovin'", received some airplay on FM radio stations, but the album was not a commercial success. The band continued to tour and release albums throughout the 1970s but failed to achieve commercial success. Their 1974 album, In a Word, was their most successful, reaching number 192 on the Billboard 200 chart. The band's final album, On Target, was released in 1979. Fuse disbanded in 1980 and Nielsen went on to form the rock supergroup Cheap Trick with Bun E. Carlos, Robin Zander, and Tom Petersson. Adamany later formed the power pop band Shoes with Jeff Murphy.
