Funeral for a Friend are a Welsh post-hardcore band from Bridgend, formed in 2001. The band consist of Matt Davies-Kreye (lead vocals, rhythm guitar), Kris Roberts (drums, percussion), Gavin Burrough (lead guitar, backing vocals), Richard Boucher (bass guitar, backing vocals), and Darren Smith (keyboards, backing vocals). The band's name is derived from an episode of the television series Buffy the Vampire Slayer. The band has released seven studio albums, one live album, three extended plays and eighteen singles. Their debut album Casually Dressed & Deep in Conversation was released in 2003 through Atlantic Records and reached number twenty-four in the United Kingdom. They have since been released from their contract with Atlantic and are now signed to Visible Noise Records. Funeral for a Friend's second album Hours was released in 2005 and charted at number four on the UK Albums Chart, while peaking at number one on the independent album chart. The album was nominated for a Kerrang! Award for Best Album. The band's third album Tales Don't Tell Themselves was released in 2007 and reached number six on the UK Albums Chart. The lead single "Into Oblivion (Reunion)" received a nomination for Best Single at the 2008 Kerrang! Awards. The fourth studio album Memory and Humanity was released in 2008 and reached number sixteen on the UK Albums Chart. The fifth album Welcome Home Armageddon was released in 2011 and reached number ten on the UK Albums Chart.
