DCI: Drum Corps International (DCI) is a non-profit organization dedicated to the promotion and development of junior drum corps activity. Drum Corps International (DCI) is the world's leading marching music education association. DCI serves as the governing body for the exercise in North America and provides educational resources, performance opportunities, and competitive programs for member organizations and individual performers. DCI is composed of member organizations that have enrolled as corps or ensembles in good standing with the organization. DCI member organizations are based in the United States and Canada and represent a wide range of musical genres and performance levels. DCI is governed by a Board of Directors consisting of representatives from member organizations and at-large members. The Board of Directors provides strategic direction for the organization and oversees the management of DCI's business affairs. DCI staff members are responsible for the day-to-day operations of the organization and implement the directives of the Board of Directors. DCI staff members are based at the organization's headquarters in Indianapolis, Indiana, and doing Major League competitions. The World Class is the highest level of competition in DCI, and it has been dominated by four acclaimed drum & bugle corps: The Blue Devils, The Cadets, The Cavaliers, and the Santa Clara Vanguard.
These four corps have been the most successful and consistent in their performances, and they have created a legacy of excellence that will be hard to match. The World Class also features several smaller corps from all over the world that are trying to compete with these giants. Every year, these smaller corps strive to make a name for themselves by being innovative, pushing the boundaries of performance, and creating a unique sound.
