Cloud Nothings is an American indie rock band from Cleveland, Ohio, United States, founded by singer-songwriter Dylan Baldi. It currently consists of lead vocalist and guitarist Dylan Baldi, bassist TJ Duke, and drummer Jayson Gerycz. Since its inception in 2009, Cloud Nothings has released seven studio albums and numerous singles. The band's debut album, Turning On, was released in 2010 to critical acclaim. The album featured the single "Hey Cool Kid", which became a fan favorite and earned the band a cult following. Following the success of Turning On, Cloud Nothings released their second album Attack on Memory in 2012. The album was met with widespread critical praise and earned the band a spot on Rolling Stone's list of top 50 albums of 2012 as well as being named one of Pitchfork's best new music releases that year. Since then, Cloud Nothings has gone on to release five more studio albums: Here and Nowhere Else (2014), Life Without Sound (2017), Last Building Burning (2018), The Shadow I Remember (2021), and most recently The Black Hole Understands (2023).
Each Cloud Nothings album has been met with positive reviews from both critics and fans alike. In addition to their studio albums, Cloud Nothings have also released several EPs including No Future/No Past (2012), Payola (2015), and Who Would Ever Want Anything So Broken? (2016). They have also been nominated for several awards including Best Alternative Music Album at the 2013 Grammy Awards for Attack on Memory as well as Best Rock Performance at the 2021 Grammy Awards for their single "Am I Something". To celebrate the 10th anniversary of Attack on Memory, Cloud Nothings announced a limited edition vinyl pressing in 2023.
