A modern instrumental rock band called Circles Around the Sun was formed specifically to write the intermission music for the Fare Thee Well performances, which were performed by the Grateful Dead's surviving members in 2015 as part of their world tour. Circles Around the Sun was created to capture the Dead's spacy and grooving vibe in general, while those concerts commemorated the band's 50th anniversary and served as their formal send-off. The group released a self-titled CD from the Fare Thee Well shows after the tour and accompanied it with a separate road trip. Let It Wander, which delivered on the roots influence of jazz-funk, soul, and fusion, was released in 2018 and had such a favorable reception that they continued to operate as a continuing concern. In 2019, the group faced a significant transformation. The band took a brief pause after a tour before starting work on a third album with Grammy-winning producer Jim Scott in his Southern California studio during the summer of 2019. They performed a crowd-pleasing late-night concert at the Lockn Festival in August with the majority of the record finished, and they also finished an EP with Joe Russo on drums. Less than a week after their performance at Lockn, on August 26, Casal took his own life. Adam MacDougall on keyboards, Dan Horne on bass, and Mark Levy on drums were closer than ever following the incident and debated whether to continue playing together for a few months. They decided collectively (together with Scott) to release their third album after deciding to release Meets Joe Russo on October 18. Eric Krasno (Soulive), a longstanding friend and collaborator of Casal's, was hired as the first guitarist for Circles Around the Sun. The group released that third album in the middle of March of 2020. The seven-track collection, which was completed the week before Casal passed away, represented his last studio work. They were cut in the California studio of engineer and producer Scott. Finding Circles Around The Sun tickets for cheap can be tough, but Yadara has got you covered.
