Cheap Trick is an American rock band from Rockford, Illinois, that formed in 1974. The band consists of vocalist Robin Zander, lead guitarist Rick Nielsen, bassist Tom Petersson, and drummer Daxx Nielson. In 1977, after inking a contract with Epic Records, the group unleashed their self-titled debut album and its successor "In Color", followed by their third LP- titled "Heaven Tonight" -the following year. The band's signature song, "Surrender", was released in 1978 and became a top ten hit in both the United States and Japan. The album Cheap Trick at Budokan (1979) helped them achieve widespread popularity in Japan and is considered one of their finest works. In the U.S., this captivating live recording went triple platinum and created unprecedented demand. Cheap Trick kept their outstanding streak alive with the release of "Dream Police" in their fourth studio effort, and only built on that success when the 1980s George Martin-produced record "All Shook Up" established them as a mainstage act. 

In total, Cheap Trick has released 20 studio albums, including several gold and platinum-selling albums. They have also charted 16 singles, with "I Want You to Want Me" reaching number one on the Billboard Hot 100 in 1979. The band was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2016.
