Camila is a Cuban-American singer and songwriter. She rose to fame as a member of the girl group Fifth Harmony, which was created during the second season of The X Factor US in 2012, and subsequently signed with Simon Cowell's record label Syco Music. The group released their debut extended play (EP), Better Together (2013), as well as their first two studio albums, Reflection (2015) and 7/27 (2016), which were both commercial successes. Camila began working on her eponymous solo album in 2016 after her departure from Fifth Harmony, and released several singles throughout 2017 and 2018. The album was preceded by the lead single, "Havana", which topped the charts in several countries, including the US, UK, Canada and Australia. It also peaked at number two on the Billboard Hot 100. "Havana" was followed by the singles "Never Be the Same", "Real Friends" and "Sangria Wine".
Camila Cabello was born in Havana, Cuba, on March 3, 1997, to Sinuhe Cabello and Alejandro Cabello. Her mother is Cuban and her father is Mexican. She has two older sisters, Sofia and Stephanie. When she was five years old, she and her family moved to Miami, Florida due to economic reasons. There, she attended a performing arts school and began to learn ballet and jazz dance. She also learned how to play the piano, guitar, and drums. In 2008, Cabello auditioned for The X Factor USA, where she was rejected in the "Bootcamp" round. However, she was later called back by Simon Cowell and given a second chance to compete in the "Girls" category. She made it to the final four before being eliminated from the competition. In 2012, Cabello auditioned for the second season of The X Factor USA and was assigned to the "Teens" category. She made it to the final three before being eliminated from the competition. However, she was brought back as a part of the girl group Fifth Harmony, which went on to become one of the most successful groups to come out of The X Factor.
