Blues Traveler is an American rock band that formed in Princeton, New Jersey in 1987. The band consists of John Popper (lead vocals and harmonica), Chan Kinchla (guitar), Brendan Hill (drums), Tad Kinchla (bass guitar), and Ben Wilson (keyboards). Blues Traveler has been a mainstay on the jam band circuit since the 1990s, with their live shows often featuring extended improvisational jams. The band's first studio album, Blues Traveler was released in 1990 and reached number 8 on the Billboard Heatseekers chart. The album featured several popular singles such as "But Anyway," "Mountain Cry," and "Gina." Their second album, Save His Soul (1993) was even more successful, reaching number 5 on the Billboard 200 chart and spawning the hit single "Run-Around" which topped the Modern Rock Tracks chart for eight weeks and earned them a Grammy Award for Best Rock Performance by a Duo or Group With Vocal.
In 1995, Blues Traveler released their third album Four which featured their most successful single to date – “Hook” – which topped the Billboard Hot 100 chart for one week. This song also earned them another Grammy Award for Best Rock Performance by a Duo or Group With Vocal. After this success, they released several more albums including Straight On Till Morning (1997), Bridge (2001), Truth Be Told (2003), and North Hollywood Shootout (2008). They have also released several live albums over the years including Live from the Fall (1999) and Live at Red Rocks: July 4th 2004 (2004). Blues Traveler continues to tour extensively throughout North America. Last 2021 they announced an extensive summer tour with dates across the United States and Canada. For 2023 they have stops all over North America including festivals such as Summerfest in Milwaukee Wisconsin and Red Rocks Amphitheatre in Colorado. Fans can expect to hear some of their classic hits such as “Run Around”, “Hook”, and “The Mountains Win Again” as well as some new material from their upcoming 10th studio album due out later this year!
