Billy Howerdel is an American musician who rose to fame as the founding member, guitarist, backup vocalist, songwriter, and producer for the band A Perfect Circle. He was also previously known for his solo project called Ashes Divide. Howerdel has also worked with artists such as Puscifer and Mutemath.
Billy Howerdel was born in 1970 and raised in Long Island, New York. His father was a musician, and his mother was an art teacher. He began playing guitar at the age of 11. After graduating from high school, he moved to Los Angeles to pursue a career in music. He worked as a guitar technician for bands such as Nine Inch Nails and Guns N' Roses, before forming A Perfect Circle in 1999 with vocalist Maynard James Keenan.
