The Atlanta Rhythm Section is an American rock band, formed in 1971 by Rodney Dillard (guitar), Barry Bailey (guitar), Paul Goddard (bass guitar), Robert Nix (drums), and J.R. Cobb (guitar). The band's current lineup consists of Dillard, Bailey, Nix, and lead singer Jim Keelor. The band's first album, The Atlanta Rhythm Section, was released in 1972. It was followed by a string of successful albums, including Third Annual Pipe Dream (1974), Red Tape (1976), Champagne Jam (1978), and A Rock and Roll Alternative (1976). The band has had nineteen chart singles, of which fourteen reached the Top 40. "So Into You" and "Imaginary Lover" were both million-selling singles. The Atlanta Rhythm Section has been awarded two gold albums and one platinum album. They were inducted into the Georgia Music Hall of Fame in 1992 and the Classic Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2006.
