Jamaican singer Skip Marley Minto is the son of Cedella Marley and David Minto, as well as the grandson of Bob Marley.
Marley Minto was born in Kingston, Jamaica, on October 24, 1994. He grew up in Miami, Florida, and began his musical career as a member of the rap group 3 Little Digs. He later formed the reggae group Soja and released his debut solo album, Made in Jamaica, in 2016.
Marley Minto's musical style is a blend of reggae, hip hop, and R&B. He has collaborated with artists such as Busta Rhymes, Sean Paul, and Damian Marley.
He put out "Cry to Me," his first track, and "Life," his follow-up single, both through the Tuff Gong label in 2015. Later, he signed with Blue Mountain Music and went on the Catch a Fire tour with his uncles Damian and Stephen.
Marley joined Island Records in early 2017. In February 2017, Marley released "Lions," his first song for Island Records, which was produced by Ilya Salmanzadeh. "Lions" was eventually featured in the iconic Pepsi commercial, Live for Now.
In 2018, Marley Minto won a Grammy Award for Best Reggae Album for his album 44/876.
Higher Place, Marley's first extended play (EP), was released on August 28,2020. It features the hits "Slow Down," "No Love," and "Make Me Feel," which Rick Ross and Ari Lennox collaborated on earlier.
Marley Minto is an avid supporter of the Jamaican national football team. He has also been involved in various charitable endeavors, including the construction of a school in Jamaica.
