Jesús Manuel Nieves Cortez, professionally known as Jhayco, is a Puerto Rican singer and rapper from Río Piedras in San Juan. He is currently signed to Warner Music Group. At the age of 15, he started writing songs, which attracted the attention of producer Eddie Dee. Producers Lele "El arma secreta" and Eliel also knew him and connected him to work with him. He wrote two songs for the pair Zion & Lennox, "Como curar" and "Detective de tu amor," and also produced "Soltera" under the alias Jay "El Superdotado," all of which are featured on the album Los Verdaderos. In 2015, he worked with De La Ghetto on the mixtape La formula, where he co-wrote and produced the song "Una noche inolvidable." The following year, he worked with Cosculluela on the album Blanco Perla. In 2016, Jhayco released his first single as a solo artist, "No soy yo," which peaked at number 40 on the Billboard Latin Rhythm Airplay chart. The song was included on his debut mixtape, Hoy no fumarás, which was released in 2017. He has since released the singles "En la calle" and "Dilema." In 2019, Jhayco was featured on Bad Bunny's song "Soli," which peaked at number one on the Billboard Latin Rhythm Airplay chart. Beginning in 2020, Cortez released a special edition of his first studio album called Famouz Reloaded that included unreleased tracks and a new single called "Dime a ve" that would appear on his second album, Timelezz. Beginning in 2021, Cortez took part in a Los Legendarios production with Wisin and the song "Fiel," which peaked at number 9 worldwide on the Spotify music streaming service. He performed "Dakiti" at the Grammy Awards on March 14 alongside Bad Bunny. Additionally, he was nominated for an IHeartRadio Music Award in the Latin Pop/Reggaeton Song of the Year category for "Dakiti."
