About The Whispers

The Whispers are an American R&B/soul vocal group from Los Angeles, California, United States, that formed in 1964. They are currently composed of twin brothers Walter and Scotty Scott (lead vocals), Gordy Harmon (baritone vocals), and Nicholas Caldwell The Whispers (tenor vocals). The group scored numerous hit songs throughout their career, including: "Seems Like I Gotta Do Wrong", "It's a Love Thing", "Operator", "In the Raw", and their signature hit, "And the Beat Goes On". The Whispers have sold over 15 million albums worldwide, and are currently touring the United States and Europe. The Whispers are known for their work in the R&B/soul genre and numerous hit songs throughout their career. The Whispers have released 12 studio albums, four live albums, and numerous singles and compilations. The Whispers band most recent album, "The Whispers", was released in 2017. They have been awarded two Grammy Awards for Best R&B Performance by a Duo or Group with Vocals in 1985 and 1987, named as 2004 Songwriters Hall of Fame Inductees, received four NARM Top Sellers awards from 1990 to 1995, earned ten Gold Albums between 1979 and 1990, and won the prestigious 1998 ASCAP Heritage Award for more than two decades of being at the top charts. These are just some of the amazing achievements The Whispers have accomplished – a testament to their longevity and influence within the music industry. The famed singing group The Whispers said in March 2023 that they were re-recording some of their best hits to take control of their musical library, much like pop diva Taylor Swift did a few years before. The group would be able to keep the rights to the records thanks to the re-recordings. The group began with "And The Beat Goes On (Whispers Version)" in September and followed with "Rock Steady" in December, as group member Wallace "Scotty" Scott put it, "We want to reap some of the financial benefits that record companies have enjoyed at our expense for decades." The Whispers have now carried on with a new rendition of "Keep on Loving Me," a Top 5 hit from 1983 written by Kevin Spencer, Wardell Potts, Jr., and William Zimmerman.
