Eric Benet Jordan, known as Eric Benet, is an American R&B and soul singer-songwriter. He began his career in the early 90s as a backing vocalist for the band The Family Stand before releasing his debut album True to Myself in 1996. Since then, he has released five studio albums, including A Day in the Life (1999), Hurricane (2005), Lost in Time (2010), The One (2012), and Eric Benet (2016). His music draws influence from classic soul and funk, with a modern twist that speaks to contemporary audiences. Throughout his career, Eric has achieved many awards and accolades. In 1998 he won two Soul Train Music Awards for Best R&B/Soul Album of the Year and Best R&B/Soul or Rap New Artist. He also won two Grammy Awards for Best Male R&B Vocal Performance for "Spend My Life With You" in 2000 and Best Traditional R&B Vocal Performance for "A Change Is Gonna Come" in 2007. In addition to these awards, he was nominated for four more Grammy Awards between 2003 - 2009.
Eric's music has been featured on multiple soundtracks such as Love & Basketball (2000), Dr. Dolittle 2 (2001), Bad Boys II (2003), and The Princess Diaries 2: Royal Engagement (2004). His most successful single "Spend My Life With You" reached number one on both the US Billboard Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs chart and US Billboard Adult Contemporary Songs chart. His other singles include "Georgy Porgy", "Sometimes I Cry", and "Real Love" which were all Top 20 hits on the US Billboard Hot 100 chart.
