Brick is an American band that formed in Atlanta, Georgia in the early 1970s. The group was composed of lead singer Jimmy Brown, keyboardist/guitarist Ray Ransom, bassist Regi Hargis, and drummer Eddie Irons. Brick's music is a unique blend of funk and jazz, with a strong influence from soul and pop music. The band's first single "Dazz" was released in 1976 and quickly became their most successful song. It reached No. 3 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart and stayed there for three weeks, making it one of the biggest hits of the year. The single also earned Brick a Grammy nomination for Best R&B Performance by a Duo or Group with Vocal. Following this success, Brick released their debut album Good High in 1977 which included hits such as "Ain't Gonna' Hurt Nobody" and "Dusic".
This album peaked at No. 10 on the Billboard 200 chart and was certified gold by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA). Throughout their career, Brick has been nominated for four Grammy Awards including Best R&B Performance by a Duo or Group with Vocal for "Dazz", Best Instrumental Arrangement Accompanying Vocalists for "Music Matic", and Album Of The Year for Good High. In addition to these awards, Brick also won two Soul Train Music Awards: Best R&B/Soul Single Group Band/Duet/Group - Dazz (1976) and Album Of The Year – Good High (1977). In 2021 Brick announced they will be embarking on an international tour through 2023!
