Robert Mould is an American musician, best known as the guitarist, vocalist, and songwriter for alternative rock bands Hüsker Dü in the 1980s and Sugar in the 1990s.
His first album, "Workbook", was released in 1989. It was followed by a string of albums throughout the 1990s and 2000s. Since Sugar's dissolution in 2005, Mould has again pursued a solo career. Between his solo albums and his work with Sugar, Hüsker Dü, and other bands and projects, Mould has released 21 albums.
Mould is also a prolific songwriter. He has written hundreds of songs, many of which have been covered by other artists. His lyrics often deal with themes of love, loss, redemption, and hope.
In 2012, Mould was inducted into the Minnesota Music Hall of Fame as a member of Hüsker Dü. In 2019, he was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame as a solo artist.
Mould's first band was a cover band called unified field theory. The band played a mix of rock, pop, and R&B covers.
Mould's first exposure to the punk rock scene came when he saw the Ramones play in Minneapolis in 1977. He was impressed by the energy and raw power of the music. He soon began attending local punk shows, where he met future Hüsker Dü drummer Grant Hart.
