The Wanted is a boy band from Britain and Ireland. The group members are Max George, Siva Kaneswaran, Jay McGuiness and Nathan Sykes. Tom Parker was also in the group until his death in 2022.
The group was formed in 2009 and signed to Simon Cowell's record label Syco Music. They rose to fame with their debut single "All Time Low" which peaked at number one on the UK Singles Chart. The group's follow-up singles "Heart Vacancy" and "Glad You Came" also topped the charts in the UK and Ireland. In 2013, they released their eponymous debut album which peaked at number three on the UK Albums Chart and was certified platinum by the British Phonographic Industry (BPI). The album's lead single "Gold Forever" peaked at number three on the UK Singles Chart.
In 2012, the Wanted found success in both the United States and Canada with their single "Glad You Came." The song went on to become their second UK number-one hit. In addition, it peaked at number three on the Billboard Hot 100 for four consecutive weeks – making it the highest American chart entry by a British boy band at that time. Their follow-up singles "Chasing the Sun" and "I Found You" also reached Number 1 on the Billboard Hot Dance Club Songs chart.
In 2012, the band's compilation album The Wanted reached the top 10 on the Billboard 200. In 2013, they starred in their own reality series called The Wanted Life on E!. On January 22nd, 2014, they announced that they would be going on hiatus to focus on individual solo projects.
The Wanted went on hiatus in 2014 after Sykes' departure from the group. They reunited in 2018 for a one-off concert in London and have since hinted at more plans to reunite in the future.
The group has won numerous awards, including three MTV Video Music Awards, two Brit Awards and one Nickelodeon Kids' Choice Award.
