The House of Love is an English rock band, formed in London in 1986. The band's original lineup consisted of lead singer and guitarist Guy Chadwick, organist Terry Bickers, bassist Chris Sheppard and drummer Andrea Heukamp. The band released their first single, "Shine On", in 1987 on the Cherry Red label. The song received positive reviews from the British music press and was later included on the band's debut album, The House of Love (1988). The album was produced by John Leckie and was released to critical acclaim. However, commercial success eluded the band, and they were dropped by their record label after the release of their second album, Baby's Got a Gun (1989).
The band continued to record and release music throughout the 1990s on a variety of independent labels, with varying degrees of success. In 2003, The House of Love reformed, with a new lineup featuring original members Chadwick and Bickers, along with new bassist Matt Jury and drummer Steve Hewitt. The band released their first album in over ten years, The House of Love (2003), on the Sanctuary Records label.
