Tegan and Sara are a Canadian indie pop duo formed in 1998 in Calgary, Alberta. The identical twin sisters, Tegan Rain (Tegan Quin) and Sara Keirsten Quin (Sara Quin)have been making music together ever since they were teenagers. As one of the most successful Canadian acts of all time, Tegan and Sara have released eight studio albums, two EPs, and over 20 singles. Their first album was Under Feet Like Ours (1999), which was followed by This Business of Art (2000). Their third album So Jealous (2004) was the breakthrough record that made them famous worldwide. It spawned several hit singles such as "Walking With a Ghost," "Where Does the Good Go," and "Speak Slow." The success of So Jealous earned them their first Juno Award for Best New Group of the Year in 2005. They followed up with their fourth album The Con (2007), which won them another Juno Award for Pop Album of the Year in 2008. The duo has toured extensively throughout North America and Europe over the years, including multiple headlining Tegan and Sara tours and festival appearances.
In 2010, they released Sainthood to critical acclaim; it peaked at number 21 on the Billboard 200 chart and earned them a Grammy Award nomination for Best Long Form Music Video. In 2013, they released Heartthrob which debuted at number 3 on the US Billboard 200 chart; it was their highest-charting album to date! Following this success, Tegan & Sara embarked on a world tour that included stops in North America, Europe, Australia, New Zealand, and Asia. Their eighth studio album Hey I'm Just Like You was released in 2019 to much fanfare. The album features reworked versions of previously unreleased songs from their teenage years as well as newly written material inspired by those same demos. In 2021 Tegan & Sara announced a new world tour for 2023 with dates across North America and Europe! Fans can expect to hear classic hits like “Closer” “Back In Your Head” and “I Was A Fool” as well as new material from Hey I'm Just Like You during this upcoming tour.
