About Sting

Sting, the legendary musician, and actor, is one of the most influential artists of all time. Born Gordon Matthew Thomas Sumner in Newcastle upon Tyne, England, Sting began his music career in 1977 as the lead singer and bassist for The Police. His debut solo album, The Dream of the Blue Turtles, was released in 1985 and featured hit singles such as "If You Love Somebody Set Them Free" and "Fortress Around Your Heart." This album earned him three Grammy Awards including Album of The Year. In 1991, Sting released his second solo album entitled Ten Summoner's Tales. This record spawned four top-ten hits on the UK Singles Chart and won two Grammy Awards. He followed up with Mercury Falling (1996) and Brand New Day (1999). Both albums were certified multi-platinum in various countries worldwide. He also released a live album entitled All This Time (2001). In 2003, Sting released Sacred Love - an album that explored themes of love, loss, and redemption. It was certified double platinum in both the US and UK and won a Grammy Award for Best Pop Vocal Album. In 2005, Sting embarked on a world tour to support his latest studio effort titled Songs from the Labyrinth (2006). This classical crossover album featured songs inspired by 16th-century English composer John Dowland's works.

In 2010 he released Symphonicities - an orchestral reinterpretation of some of his greatest hits with The Royal Philharmonic Concert Orchestra. His twelfth studio effort - 57th & 9th - was released in 2016 to critical acclaim; it became his first top-ten release on the Billboard 200 since 1993's Ten Summoner's Tales! Sting has been nominated for sixteen Grammy Awards throughout his illustrious career; he has won ten awards including Song Of The Year for "Every Breath You Take" (1984) as well as Best Male Pop Vocal Performance for "If I Ever Lose My Faith In You" (1993). Additionally, he has been inducted into both the Rock & Roll Hall Of Fame as a member of The Police (2003) as well as being awarded Commander Of The Order Of Arts And Letters by France's Ministry Of Culture (2011). Sting will embark on a world tour starting in March 2023 to promote his upcoming 13th studio album which is expected to be released later this year!
